In 1939, Les Paul built a solid-body electric guitar out of a 4x4.
In 1996, in a Michigan basement, my fingers bled as I clunked out the first chords to “A Hard Day’s Night.”  Hardly a day has gone by since then that I don’t play an instrument.
And deep down, I still think I could be a hell of a rock star.
RIP Les Paul.
